Project to lengthen a waterway for the runway at Aupaluk Airport

The amendment seeks to extend south by 34.91 metres the watercourse that runs alongside the runway to reduce water stagnation at the end of the runway. This latter can damage the infrastructure’s integrity, create a geotechnical risk and even modify the thermal regime of the permafrost. The proponent also plans to stabilize (i.e., waterproof) 45 metres of the embankment to the northeast of the runway.
