The project aims to provide electricity to residents of the Northern Village of Kuujjuarapik and the Cree community of Whapmagoostui by meeting growing energy needs. The thermal generating station currently has three generators of 1,135 kW each. The project consists of adding a fourth generator of approximately 1,880 kW. The proponent also plans to expand the existing building to accommodate the new generator and to provide new storage, access and handling areas for operations and maintenance activities.
