The route of the 5-KV electric and fibre optics cable between the camp and the port facilities in Deception Bay is 4.6 km long, with a 0.50-m wide right-of-way. The right-of-way includes the 5-cm diameter electric cable, the fibre optics cable and the wooden supports (pillars) for the water crossings and ditches.

The Nunavik Nickel inc. Project (NNiP), by Canadian Royalties Inc. (CRI), was the subject of an initial environmental and social impact study in 2007. This led to certification of authorization for the entire NNiP mining site on May 20, 2008, pursuant to section 201 of the Environmental Quality Act. Since then, various amendments to the global certificate have been authorized.
This project consists of supplying the Deception Bay camp facilities with a 5-KV electrical cable from the generators at the CRI port facilities. In addition, a fibre optics cable will be bundled with the electrical cable during the works.
