Working languages of the commission
The rules of internal management of the Commission dictate that the exchanges between the members of the Commission may be in French, English, Inuktitut or, where appropriate, Naskapi. The policy on the working languages of the Commission requires that all members should have adequate linguistic access to records submitted to them for review and decision.
The working languages of the Inuit members of the Commission are usually Inuktitut and English. While respecting the Language Policy of the Government of Québec, which states that project documents must be submitted in French, proponents are invited to provide the Commission with a full translation of the documents filed or at least a summary in English in order to accelerate the analysis and decision making. Otherwise, the Commission has an obligation to provide its own translation which has an effect on the lenght of time requires for review.
